Game 6 of the 2013 40 over campaign was at Turtle Run Park vs United SC on a cloudy, windy day. United SC won the toss and elected to bat first on the wicket.
Krishna & Paul opened the bowling. Krishna took the game’s first wicket with the second ball of his first over. Paul bowled a short spell due to somewhat expensive 3rd & 4th overs. After the opening bowlers both bowled 4 over spells, the spin skills of Sammy & Tanmay were brought into the attack. They both bowled their 8 over spells with similar figures, having 2 maiden overs each & at least 2 wickets each taken. Krishna, Tanmay & Sammy all helped restrict the run rate with similar bowling spells as statistics were concerned. United SC did not earn their 100th run until the 30th over. Tiki & Sahel finished bowling the remaining overs. At the end of 40 overs, United scored 140 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Bowling details are below:
Krishna - 8 overs, 2 maidens, 24 runs, 1 wicket, 5 wides.
Paul- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 24 runs, 0 wickets, 0 wides.
Sammy- 8 overs, 2 maidens, 22 runs, 3 wickets, 2 wides.
Tanmay- 8 overs, 2 maidens, 25 runs, 2 wickets, 14 wides.
Prateek- 8 overs, 0 maidens, 27 runs, 1 wicket, 5 wides.
Sahel- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 15 runs, 2 wickets, 2 wides.
The Titans began their run chase with a target of 141 runs. Chucky & Tiki began the run chase for the squad. The opening batsmen both lost their wickets before the 8th over. Sunil & Sahel both began their batting stands with a promising start to a partnership but Sahel was unfortunately run out on a direct hit just as the partnership began to blossom. Sunil lost his wicket to an edge a few overs later. Prahbu & Dalip both came to the crease with intent but both lost their wickets just after getting to double digit scores. The remaining batsmen of Krishna, Tanmay, Paul & Sammy did very little to support the run chase and after 28.3 overs, the Titans squad was bowled out for 101 runs, 40 runs shy of the goal. Titans lose to United SC by 39 runs in the 6th game of the 2013 40 over campaign.
The only Titans highlights of the day were the 8 over bowling spells of Sammy & Tanmay, which produced a total of 4 maiden overs & 5 wickets. Krishna & Tiki bowled similarly efficient 8 over spells. This loss was one that was completely avoidable as was the first loss of the season. Once again, the only team that beat the Titans was the Titans. With 4 games to go in the regular 40 over season, the Titans look to learn from mistakes in the 2 losses as we proceed into the 2nd half of the season.
