On a sublime and sunny May day, the Palm Beach Titans continued their 2017 South Florida Premiere League 40 over campaign. The final regular season game (Game 9) of the 2017 SFPL 40 over regular season would be played against St. Bess. Palm Beach Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first. St. Bess’s batting overs were reduced to 37 overs due to their tardiness.
Tanmay & Anglin opened the bowling. Anglin struck first blood with a well-deserved LBW decision of the off-strike opening batsman on the 4th ball of his very first over (2nd overall) with only 12 runs on the scorecard. Not to be outdone, Tanmay took a pair of wickets in his 3rd over (5th overall) with his second and fourth balls of the over. Anglin followed that with another wicket two overs later (Anglin’s 4th & 8th overall). After the 4th wicket fell in the 8th over, the opponent had 28 runs on the scorecard. The #4 and #6 batsmen established a 100 run partnership over the next 23 overs. That partnership was broken when the #6 batsman lost his wicket in the 31st over via a solid catch by Naga off Skipper Andre’s bowling. Skipper Andre and Krishna were the first change bowlers and took a total of 3 wickets combined. The captain broke that partnership and took the wickets of both batsmen involved in that partnership. Atif and Naga were the 2nd change bowlers and continued the effectiveness and efficiency of the bowling contingent. At the end of the innings, St. Bess scored 169 runs with 7 wickets lost in 37 overs. Bowling highlights included 2 wicket spells by Tanmay, Anglin & Skipper Andre. Fielding highlights included a stumping and wicketkeeper catch by Tiki along with a solid catch by Naga at long-off and solid fielding (diving) to save runs by the fielding contingent. Palm Beach Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:

Chucky & Dalip opened the batting. Dalip began in his normal master blaster fashion hitting a 6 and a 4 on his third and fourth faced balls. After a solid 43 run opening partnership, Chucky unfortunately lost his wicket via a catch at cover in the 6th over after only scoring 8 runs. Dalip lost his wicket 3 overs later after scoring 28 runs that included five 4s & one 6. Tiki Singh replaced Chucky at the crease while Nate replaced Dalip at the crease. Tiki Singh unfortunately lost his wicket in the 10th over via a run-out (his fav way to get out) after scoring 12 runs. Praveen replaced him at the crease and settled in to continue the chase. Nate scored 15 runs before losing his wicket in the 14th over. Skipper Andre replaced Nate in the line-up. Both Praveen & Skipper Andre stabilized the batting and established a 74 run partnership to win the match. Skipper Andre scored 48 runs in 31 balls faced that included seven 4s and two 6s with a 155 strike rate. The Palm Beach Titans chase down the 170 runs needed for victory in 22.1 overs. Batting highlights included Skipper Andre’s 48 runs(not out), Dalip’s 28 runs and Praveen’s 25 runs(not out). Palm Beach Titans win by 6 wickets.
