The Titans began the 2014 40 over season playing against Port St. Lucie on Sunday February 9th, 2014. Game 1 of the 2014 40 over campaign would be played at Girl Scout Friendship Park. Titans won the toss and elected to bat first. It was an auspicious beginning given that we played with 9 players due to injuries & scheduling conflicts but that did not hamper the infamous Titan’s spirit & determination.
Dalip & Skipper Prateek opened the batting. Tiki lost his wicket after being bowled with the 1st ball of the 5th over after a meager 14 run opening batting partnership. Atul then came to the crease and established a solid 55 run partnership with Dalip before getting out by LBW in the 17th over. The remaining batsmen failed to establish any formidable partnerships, did not add much to the score & the team ended up being bowled out for 103 runs in 30.4 overs. Dalip was the highlight batsman of the day, scoring 47 runs. Atul was the other highlight batsman after scoring 19 runs and establishing a 55 run, 12 over partnership with Dalip. That meant that the Titans had to defend 103 runs with their bowling attack.
Paul & Walt opened the bowling. After failing to penetrate with a wicket in his opening 3 overs, Walt was replaced by Santosh as a first change bowler. The opposition’s opening batting pair kept the Titan’s bowling attack at bay, as they established a 78 run, 15.3 over partnership before losing their first wicket to Sandeep. Titans conceded the remaining 26 runs in 7 overs. In the end, our 9 man squad lost by 9 wickets. Sandeep was the surprise bowling highlight of the day with his high percentage of batsman-troubling deliveries (Tiki Recap). Titans CC Bowling details are below:

As the 2014 40 over regular season begins, the 12 game regular season will present many challenges to our Titans Cricket Club. All aspects of the team, bowling, batting & fielding, need improvements. Going forward in the 2014 season & stated by our skipper, the goal of the squad is to improve week to week & play to the last ball, regardless of the situation. The team is determined to evolve as we continue to improve the skills of our core players & shake off the rust of the offseason.
