On a warm, sunny day, the Titans continued their 2014 40 over campaign vs Palm Beach Eagles. Game 6 of the 2014 40 over campaign would be played at Miramar Regional. Palm Beach Eagles won the toss and elected to bat first. The Titans squad also welcomed back former skipper Tanmay as he recently returned from his nuptials in India.
Krishna & Walt opened the bowling & continued their efficient bowling seasons. Krishna made history by bowling the second hat trick in Titans history by taking the first 3 wickets of the game with the last 3 balls of his 3rd over. He continued his devastating bowling by taking another 2 wickets in his 4th over while Walt continued his miserly ways on the other end allowing few runs in his overs. By the 14 over break, the Titans had taken 8 wickets with 1 remaining as the opposition played one person short. After the break, Krishna took the 1 remaining wicket via a Tiki stumping. At the end of the innings, Krishna took a total of 8 wickets and took a juggling diving catch to give Errol the 9th wicket. Skipper Tiki continued his solid season with 2 more stumpings. The Titans had to chase a small total of 59 runs after bowling out the opposition in 14.5 overs. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:
Krishna- 7.5 overs, 1 maiden, 40 runs, 8 wickets, 5 wides.
Walt- 6 overs, 1 maiden, 11 runs, 0 wickets, 2 wides.
Errol- 1 over, 0 maidens, 1 runs, 1 wicket, 0 wides.
Chucky & Dalip opened the batting. The opening pair began the small run chase well but Dalip gave his wicket away after scoring consecutive boundaries in the 4th over by charging down the pitch & getting stumped. Krishna replaced Dalip. He & Chucky finished the run chase in 7.5 overs with some classic boundaries. Titans CC win the game by 9 wickets. Batting stats included Chucky’s 13 runs (n.o.), Dalip’s 15 runs & Krishna’s 18 runs (n.o.).
At the midpoint of the season, the Titans record stands at 4 wins & 2 losses. The obvious game highlight was Krishna’s 8 wickets which included a hat trick. Krishna’s hat trick was the 2nd in Titans history while his 8 total wickets was the most taken by a Titan in a game. There was good fielding support on the day. There were 2 dropped catches and 7 wides bowled but was a good, short day overall. The second half of the season will continue to provide challenges for the Titans squad & progression will have to continue as the new team composition continues to blend effectively. Kudos to Krishna on his 8 wicket day that catapulted him to 1 wicket shy of the league leader. Tiki continues to lead the league’s fielding stats with 5 WK catches & 6 stumpings. The squad looks forward to the second half of the season with promise & confidence.
