The Titans continued the 2014 40 over season with game 2 vs Palm Beach 2. Game 2 of the 2014 40 over campaign would be played at the Titan’s home ground of Miramar Regional Park. Palm Beach 2 won the toss and elected to bat first. With a full 11 man squad with some newcomers, the Titans looked to follow Skipper Tiki’s direction & improve from Game 1.

Krishna & Walt opened the bowling. The combination of Krish’s fast bowling & Walt’s super gentle bowling was effective in the opening power play overs. Krish was efficient. Walt’s third over was a double wicket over while his 6th over was a maiden over. Santosh & Atul were the first change bowlers. Atul was expensive after bowling several wides. Santosh was very effective and was the hardest working bowler of the day with his 2 wickets in his 8 overs. Phani & Paul were brought in as 2nd change bowlers. Phani bowled too many wides in some of his overs but when he did bowl on target, it was extremely efficient. Paul did bowl his 8 overs with more wides than expected but did pick up 3 lower order wickets. Rakesh bowled a very efficient 2 of the last 4 overs, keeping the remaining batsmen at bay. The best fielding stats of the day went to the “statistics” man of Titans, Prateek Singh with 3 WK catches & 2 stumpings. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:

Krishna- 8 overs, 1 maidens, 32 runs, 1 wickets, 7 wides.
Walt - 8 overs, 1 maidens, 33 runs, 2 wickets, 7 wides.
Santosh- 8 overs, 0 maidens, 27 runs, 2 wickets, 6 wides.
Atul- 2 overs, 0 maidens, 26 runs, 0 wickets, 9 wides.
Phani V.- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 25 runs, 1 wickets, 15 wides.
Paul- 8 overs, 0 maidens, 36 runs, 3 wickets, 11 wides.
Rakesh- 2 overs, 0 maidens, 10 runs, 0 wickets, 0 wides.

Dalip & Skipper Prateek opened the batting. Masterblaster Dalip, after being advised by former Titan Roy Weekes, started beating the ball early and often with 4’s & 6’s. He scored 38 runs off his first 16 deliveries before being given out by a horrible LBW decision that even left his batting partner, Tiki, baffled. Dalip’s scorecard read 4,1,*,*,4,6,4,*,2,4,*,4,1,*,6,2. Atul then came in and played a very supportive role. Tiki lost his wicket after being bowled with 108 runs on the scorecard. Aditya then came to the crease & put in a short 3 run spell before being bowled. Praveen replaced him and soon after, Atul gave his wicket away playing a forward cut shot in the air after scoring a solid 36 runs. Rakesh replaced Atul. Praveen & Rakesh finished off the game by acquiring the remaining necessary runs with singles, doubles, & boundaries. Great not out knocks from Praveen & Rakesh to finish the game. The Titans chased down the 190 necessary runs in 27 overs. Titans win by 7 wickets.

As the 2014 40 over regular season continues, the Titan’s evolution was evidently efficient with a good team effort on the day. The fielding on the day was effective & appreciated by all bowlers. Skipper WK Tiki had a great stats day with 2 stumpings & 3 WK catches. The 55 wides were very much an issue but have been addressed. The skipper’s message to the team last week was to improve week to week. At this point, the squad is following the captain’s directives. Let’s get it, Titans! The team continues to evolve.
