After rescheduling by the league, zone semifinals put Titans CC to play at Paradise SC for the Zone B semifinals of Division 1 on November 04, 2012. Paradise won the toss and elected to bat. Almost 100% of the 2012 Titans CC squad was available for selection for this zone semifinal game.
Krishna & Cyril opened the bowling. Krishna was economical in his spell but Cyril was a bit expensive in his 5 overs. Overs 1 thru 10 allowed almost 50 runs while overs 10-20 only allowed 20 runs. Overs 20-30 allowed 56 runs while overs 30-36.2 allowed 38 runs. Titans’ bowling was below par for this game. Deo & Atif took 4 & 3 wickets respectively allowing less than 4 runs per over in their 8 over spells. Both Deo & Atif also had double wicket overs. Titans CC bowl out Paradise SC for 164 runs in 36.2 overs. Bowling details are below:
Krishna- 7 overs, 0 maidens, 21 runs, 1 wicket, 2 wides.
Cyril- 5 overs, 0 maidens, 49 runs, 0 wicket, 5 wides.
Paul- 3 overs, 0 maidens, 10 runs, 0 wickets, 2 wides.
Tanmay- 5.2 overs, 0 maidens, 26 runs, 1 wicket, 6 wides.
Deo- 8 overs, 1 maiden, 29 runs, 4 wickets, 3 wides.
Atif- 8 overs, 1 maiden, 27 runs, 3 wickets, 0 wides.
Titans CC had to chase 165 runs to win. The top order of Chucky, Dalip, Tiki, Tanmay & Paul scored a total of 5 runs with Chucky & Tanmay scoring the infamous bird. Krishna was the only batting highlight of the day for Titans CC with his 66 runs scored in the run chase. However, the valiant chase came up short after the lower order failed just as the top order did leaving the Titans CC 26 runs short of the chase at the end of the day.
Krishna’s all round performance was the highlight of the day with his stingy bowling & 66 runs scored off the bat. Deo’s & Atif’s bowling was also a highlight of the day but not enough to push the Titans thru to the next round of playoffs. A disappointing end to the Titans CC 2012 season in the 40 over playoffs with many questions especially on the batting end of the squad. Much work needs to be done in the off-season. End of the year elections & awards to follow along with the Sarasota 6-a-side tour during Thanksgiving weekend to look forward to in the remainder of the calendar year.
