Knocking In The Ice.

Walt H. Rambaransingh | Date 10/03/16

On an overcast, rainy & windy early October day, the Titans continued their 2016 South Florida Premiere League 20 over campaign. Game 6 of the 2016 SFPL 20 over regular season would be played against the Eagles CC at Tradewinds Park. Eagles CC won the toss and elected to field first. The game was reduced to 17 overs due to weather.

Prateek & Nathan opened the batting on a damp & windy wicket. The Titan’s opening partnership only lasted for 13 runs when Tiki lost his wicket early in the 2nd over. Praveen entered the game to replace Tiki but quickly lost his wicket, being bowled off a dipping full toss after only facing 2 deliveries. Skipper Andre then came to the crease & began some aggressive batting but lost his wicket, being caught at long on off the last ball of the 3rd over. Nate lost his wicket 2 balls later, also being caught out. So after losing 4 top order batsmen in the first 3.2 overs, Chucky & Naga put on a quick 33 run partnership in the next 4 overs before Naga unfortunately got caught at deep cover point towards the end of the 8th over. Krishna replaced Naga at the crease. Chucky then lost his wicket in the 11th over via a delayed controversial LBW decision. Bharat then joined Krish at the crease and embarked on a 43 run partnership over the next 6 overs with Bharat scoring the majority of the runs including three 6s. Krishna lost his wicket on the very next ball being caught behind while Tanmay lost his wicket on the very last ball of the innings being caught out. Titans score 115 runs for 9 wickets at the end of the first innings. Batting highlights included Bharat & Naga, scoring 30 & 25 runs, respectively.

Sanjay & Krishna opened the bowling to begin the team’s defense of 115 runs. Sanjay took the first wicket of the opposition off the last ball of the first over with a solid catch by Nathan at long on. The first 2 overs only went for 8 runs but the next 8 overs went for 75 runs. The first change bowlers were Tanmay & Nathan. Tanmay’s first over produced several chances but those catches were tough, at best, off mishits. Errol was the 5th bowler and took the only other wicket of the 2nd innings via another catch by Nathan at the long on boundary. The only bowling highlights were the 2 wickets taken off Sanjay’s & Errol’s bowling. Eagles CC successfully chase down their target of 115 runs with 2 wickets lost in 13.1 overs. Titans CC lose by 8 wickets. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:

Sanjay– 2 overs, 0 maidens, 16 runs, 1 wicket.
Krishna – 3.1 overs, 0 maidens, 23 runs, 0 wickets.
Tanmay- 3 overs, 0 maidens, 29 runs, 0 wickets.
Nathan- 3 overs 0 maidens, 27 runs, 0 wickets.
Errol - 2 overs, 0 maidens, 20 runs, 1 wicket.

The Titans’ 6th game of their South Florida Premiere League 20 over campaign resulted in the team’s first season loss due to a top order batting collapse. The only batting highlights were Bharat & Naga. Bowling highlights were scarce, at best, mainly due to the amount of wides bowled. Fielding highlights included 2 catches by Nathan at long on. The 1st loss of the season was due to a top order batting collapse and some inefficient bowling. Lessons have been learned from this loss and the team is confident going into the final 2 games of the regular season.
