Let The Games Begin!
09/04/20
Recently, John Prince Park and the Palm Beach County Board Of County Commissioners have issued permits to us again to start utilizing the facility. There are many new restrictions and considerations having to do with how we operate during this dreaded COVID-19 pandemic. The Titans Executive committee has secured the permits for practice during the week and games on the weekends.
Receiving our permits to be back on the field led to online group notifications about when practices and games would be held. So far, we’ve had several well-attended practices and we got to see the impact the several months of layoff had on our team members. That being said, we have a lot of work to do and we’re all very excited to be back on the field.
So far, we’ve played a few matches against our sister team from down south - The Broward Cricket Club. They’ve been a part of some tournaments over the last few months so we’ve had a couple of losses to them. We’ll surely use the taste of defeat as motivation.
During practice and our games, we encourage all members and participants to follow the recommended CDC guidelines. Most people that attend the practices and games now opt to wear a mask even though it is not mandatory in Palm Beach County. We ensure that persons are seated a good distance apart and when we’re on the field we’re all spaced out so social distancing is maintained throughout it all. We’ve also notified all members to stay at home if they are ill or have traveled until they’ve completed at least 10 days of self-quarantine.
The executive committee is proud to announce that we have 3 finalists for the position of Captain of the club. Congratulations Andre, Avinash, and Suraj! On Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020, the executive committee interviewed all three candidates and by the time of this publication, we’ll be in the election process. Former skipper, Paul Ramkissoon is looking forward to transitioning leadership to the one who has what it takes to propel our team forward. In our next e-blast we’ll be announcing our new captain, until then, please be safe.
