Power Outage.

On an overcast & substantially windy October day, the Titans ventured into their first installment of the 2016 SFPL post season. The first round playoff eliminator would be against the #6 seed Miami Power from the South Zone of the conference. The playoff game would be played at Miramar Regional Park. Miami Power won the toss on a wet outfield and put the Titans in to bat. Unfortunately, the Titans would be without their perennial super wicketkeeper Tiki. Chucky would fill that wicketkeeper void.

Nathan & Dalip opened the batting. The Titan’s opening partnership was short-lived with Nathan being caught out at long on and Dalip being bowled within the first 5 overs. No Titan batsman scored more than 15 runs over the course of the first innings. There was no substantial partnership to help the cause with 4 caught outs and 3 clean bowled. Titans score 107 runs for 8 wickets at the end of the first innings. Batting highlights included low double digit inclusions from Dalip, Praveen, Atul, Andre, Krishna & Tanmay.

Krishna & Andre opened the bowling to begin the team’s defense of 107 runs. The opening overs were expensive and the first wicket did not fall until Nathan’s 2nd over. Nathan was the 4th bowler. The Titan’s most effective bowler of the day was Nathan who provided 2 wicket maiden overs in his 4 over spell. Krishna & Tanmay were responsible for the other 2 wickets. Krishna’s catch at square leg was the fielding highlight of the day for the Titans. Miami Power successfully chased down their target of 107 runs with 5 wickets lost in 17.3 overs. Titans CC lose by 5 wickets. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:

Krishna– 4 overs, 0 maidens, 24 runs, 1 wicket.
Andre – 2.3 overs, 0 maidens, 14 runs, 0 wickets.
Bharat- 2 overs, 0 maidens, 14 runs, 0 wickets.
Nathan- 4 overs 2 maidens, 10 runs, 3 wickets.
Tanmay - 4 overs, 0 maidens, 26 runs, 1 wicket.
Errol - 1 over, 0 maidens, 10 runs, 0 wickets.

The Titans’ first round playoff eliminator of their South Florida Premiere League 20 over campaign resulted in a team loss due to insufficient batting overall. There were no batting highlights. Bowling highlights included 2 wicket maidens by Nathan in his 2nd & 4th overs bowled. Fielding highlights included a blistering, scintillating catch at square leg by Krishna to relieve the #5 danger batsman from the crease. The Titans were unable to score enough runs to defend successfully. The season comes to an early & uneventful end in this first installment of the SFPL T20 season. This is another tough lesson for the Titans as the calendar year begins to dwindle to an end. The team’s focus now shifts to the Sarasota 6-a-side Tourney over Thanksgiving weekend which is known for its uber memorable activities. Gobble Gobble!
