On a hot summer Florida afternoon, the Titans began their 2014 20 over campaign with a home game vs United SSC. Game 1 of the 2014 20 over campaign would be played at John Prince Park. United SSC won the toss and elected to bat first.
Walt & Santosh opened the bowling. Walt started the 20 over season the same way he ended the 40 over season with an efficient economy allowing only 13 runs in his 4 overs & taking 1 wicket. Santosh struggled in his 1st over with several wides but returned to his form in his other 3 overs, allowing 23 runs in his 4 overs (11 of which were wides). The first change bowlers were Tanmay & Errol. Tanmay bowled his normal decent spell but in very uncharacteristic fashion, Errol allowed 30 runs in his last 2 overs. Krishna rounded out the bowling contingent by bowling well except for his 3rd over that allowed 12 runs. The fielding highlights included catches by Aditya & Santosh at long-off and a sweet catch by Tanmay at mid-off running in like a flash from long-off. At the end of the innings, United SSC scored 129 runs in 20 overs. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:
Walt – 4 overs, 0 maidens, 13 runs, 1 wicket, 3 wides.
Santosh- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 23 runs, 0 wickets, 11 wides.
Tanmay- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 25 runs, 0 wickets, 0 wides.
Errol- 4 overs, 0 maidens, 38 runs, 1 wicket, 5 wides.
Krish - 4 overs, 0 maidens, 27 runs, 2 wickets, 2 wides.
Chucky & Skipper Tiki opened the batting. The opening pair began confidently with solid strokes & good running between the wickets. Chucky was the first to lose his wicket in the 5th over after skying one to short mid-wicket. His replacement Aditya lost his wicket 5 overs later. Skipper Tiki looked to anchor the innings but lost his wicket in the 12th over, being caught. The remainder of the Titans batting order did very little to add to the total. Titans CC were all out for 78 runs in 20 overs. Titans CC lose by 51 runs.
After a rusty start to the 20 over season, the Titans look to improve on their 1st game. The bowling contingent performed well as a whole but lost some form in the death overs. The fielding highlights included catches by Aditya, Santosh & Tanmay. The fielding looked somewhat rusty as it included some misfields & nonchalant maneuvers. There were no batting highlights as that was the failure. Skipper Tiki addressed the batting after the game and laid out his plan for a better batting attack & order. Overall, there was rusty aspects in the team’s batting, fielding & bowling. The squad looks to improve, going forward into the 2014 20 over season.
