On an overcast day near Lake Okeechobee, the Titans continued their 2013 40 over campaign with game #2 vs. new league team, Palm Beach Eagles.  With 5 normal first XI players unavailable for the game, the Titans won the toss and elected to bat.

As in game #1, Atul & Chucky opened the batting.  The pitch proved to be unpredictable from the get-go.  Chucky quickly lost his wicket by being bowled on the leg side for a golden duck in the first over.  Atul then lost his wicket in the 6th over after being caught behind by the wicketkeeper.  Krishna, Paul & Bunny lost their wickets by being caught out even though Paul’s wicket seemed to be a case of a phantom edge.  Dalip then stepped to the crease as the #6 batsman on the same ground where he guided the Titans to the 2012 Southshore Mothers’ Day tourney championship.  Dalip then proceeded to score a quick-fire 56 that included three 4s & five massive 6s.  The lower batting order scored minimal runs leaving the Titans with a total of 108 runs to defend on a tricky wicket where the Titan’s bowling strength would be sure to make an impact regardless of the low total.

For the second week in a row, the Titans had a solid bowling attack ready to defend their meager 108 runs.  Krishna & Phani opened the bowling with Phani bowling his entire spell on the trot.  Phani was quite efficient with his bowling, allowing a meager 16 runs in 8 overs with 1 taken wicket.  Sammy & Atif were the first change bowlers and were a menace on this unpredictable pitch.  Sammy allowed a miserly 17 runs in his allotted 8 overs, taking 2 wickets while Atif allowed a stifling 13 runs in his 8 overs, taking 3 wickets.  Santosh & Paul finished the game by removing the remaining 4 wickets in the last 4.3 overs for 16 runs with Paul taking 3 wickets in his 2 over spell & allowing 6 runs (4 of which were wide balls).  The Eagles were bowled out for 88 runs in 36.3 overs. Titans win by 20 runs.  Bowling details are below:

Krishna- 8 overs, 1 maiden, 25 runs, 1 wicket, 1 wides.
Phani- 8 overs, 0 maidens, 16 runs, 1 wicket, 6 wides.
Sammy- 8 overs, 2 maidens, 17 runs, 2 wickets, 2 wides.
Atif- 8 overs, 1 maiden, 13 runs, 3 wickets, 2 wides.
Santosh- 2.3 overs, 0 maiden, 10 runs, 1 wickets, 1 wides.
Paul- 2 overs, 0 maidens, 6 runs, 3 wickets, 4 wides.

For the second week in a row, the Titans made this win more difficult than it had to be.  However, even though only one batsman produced meaningful runs, the team was ever confident that the bowling could defend the meager total of 108 runs.  The 2013 Titans team continues their evolution through their 2nd league game & look forward to the 3rd game of the season, which puts them at their home ground in Miramar for the first time this season.
