The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Walt H. Rambaransingh | Date 04/27/14

On a clear, bright day, the Titans continued their 2014 40 over campaign after the Easter break, with a home game vs United SSC. Game 10 of the 2014 40 over campaign would be played at John Prince Park. United SSC won the toss and elected to bat first.

Paul & Walt opened the bowling. It was the first action for the old skip in quite some time. The cobwebs were evident. The first change bowlers, Santosh & Errol were brought in the 9th & 12th overs respectively. At the 14 over break, United SSC had 63 runs with 3 wickets lost. The fielding was sloppy with several dropped catches. The only fielding highlights included 2 stumpings & 2 WK catches by Skipper Tiki and one sweet, high catch by Brandon at mid-off running in from long-off to give Paul his only wicket of the day. Bowling highlights included Santosh’s 4-wicket haul & Atul’s 3-wicket haul in his first 8 over game performance of the year. At the end of the innings, United SSC scored 186 runs all out in 37 overs. Titans CC Bowling details of the day are below:

Paul – 8 overs, 0 maidens, 40 runs, 1 wicket, 11 wides.
Walt- 6 overs, 0 maidens, 33 runs, 1 wicket, 2 wides.
Santosh- 7 overs, 0 maidens, 22 runs, 4 wickets, 3 wides.
Errol- 8 overs, 0 maidens, 41 runs, 1 wicket, 3 wides.
Atul - 8 overs, 0 maidens, 46 runs, 3 wickets, 1 wide.

Chucky & Dalip opened the batting. Both openers started well with confident strokes, good running between the wickets & several boundaries. Both Chucky & Atul(1-down) lost their wickets in the 4th over via LBW decisions. 2-down batsman Rakesh lost his wicket in the following over getting caught behind by the WK. Dalip lost his wicket in the 8th over by being bowled after charging down the pitch after scoring 25 runs. The remainder of the Titans batting order did very little to add to the total. Titans CC were all out for 86 runs in 25.2 overs. Titans CC lose by 100 runs.

After the 2nd loss of the season to United SSC, the Titans CC record stands at 7 wins & 3 losses with 2 regular season 40 over games remaining. The only highlights of the day were in the bowling department with Santosh’s 4-wicket haul & Atul’s 3-wicket haul. The fielding was very sloppy (except for Tiki’s 2 stumpings & 2 WK catches) and the batting failed. With 2 games left in the 40 over regular season, the squad looks to rebound from this loss by playing proper Titan’s cricket and getting prepared for post-season play. At the end of the day, it was Good bowling, Bad batting & Ugly fielding.
