Updates From Palm Beach Titans Executive Committee
Staff | Date 03/12/21
About four weeks ago, Palm Beach Titans finished the Gold Coast Cricket League's T20 Competition, in which we were unfortunately eliminated in the quarter-finals. The results were sort of a mixed bag given that we have a new captain, a new lineup, some younger players, and the overall fact that we have been trying to find and develop the chemistry in our unit.
Although we have had a disappointing start to the season, we are looking forward to developing our young talent and taking the club to higher heights.
Now, the GCCL has switched formats to a 30 Overs Competition. These games are played in white uniforms and with a red or pink ball. The red ball is used in the 9 a.m. matches. The pink ball, given its visibility, is reserved for the 2:15 p.m. matches as these games tend to go well into the evening and will most likely conclude under lights.
Additionally, the South Florida Cricket Alliance, the most prestigious and storied league in all of Florida, will be starting shortly. Titans 1 will be the team focused on this league. We are looking to put our best foot forward by ensuring our best XI takes the field. The SFCA affords a spotlight for our younger players to be highlighted for US team selections. Our team boasts multiple players that have been to the US Under 15 and Under 19 trials. We have had E. J. Tucker and Adam Khan, who both went to Under 19 trials. Also, Atul Iyer played for the Regional Under 19 and plays for his college in England. We also have an up-and-coming youngster in Riyadh Mujeeb, who has gone to the Under 15 trials and is making the club proud. Other youths are also in various developmental stages.
Both Titans 1 and Titans 2 had games this past weekend. There was an exhibition match at John Prince Park where Titans 1 faced off against Tropics. This match was a good test for the newly constructed roster. As for the GCCL 30 Overs Competition, Titans 2 took to the field at Miramar Regional Park under lights and for the first time with the pink ball. Check the score updates for more details. Thank you for supporting our club, and be sure to come out and enjoy our favorite pastime.
